This year, CodeScience sponsored Chattanooga’s Creative Discovery Museum’s annual fundraising event, AmuseUM. According to the museum’s website, the funds raised from AmuseUm ensure the Museum remain a vital resource for the community by offering quality programs and exhibits to over 260,000 people (including 60,000 schoolchildren).

On Saturday, October 3rd, CodeScientists and their families, came together from across the country to enjoy a day at the museum. The kids were invited to a “make it and take it” workshop where they were encouraged to play with scissors, needles, a thermoplastic called Worbla, and cans of aerosol paint! Many superheroes walked out of that room with masks, capes, swords, and shields. Afterward, our families enjoyed exploring the museum. From the performing art gallery with multiple music rooms and a recording studio, to the hands-on riverplay exhibit that explores locks, dams, currents, and boats, there was a lot to see and do at the museum and the focus was on active learning. The Creative Discovery Museum’s mission to “inspire all children to explore, innovate, create and play” complements CodeScience’s commitment to “acting as adults and staying as curious as kids.”

Thanks for having us, Creative Discovery Museum, we had a blast!
